Vietnam has experienced a dramatic increase in exporting paper products. Many foreign traders find this market potential due to its cheap labor and abundant resources.

So how to import paper cups from Vietnam? Let’s follow our post to get more information!

The Origin

These items are popular these days, especially after the COVID-19 virus broke out. So, where do the cups come from? How to manufacture them?

History

Although some people believe that Imperial China invented cups, their actual origins are still unclear.

We can only be sure that they became famous in 1900 when people realized that sharing the same ladle meant spreading bacteria.

Lawrence Luellen, a lawyer, invented the “Health Kup” in 1907. Due to worries about shared-use mugs, Lawrence did it to improve public hygiene and health.

During the 1918 influenza outbreak in the USA, these cups were increasingly popular to prevent infection.

Material

The cup has two parts: the paper (which constitutes 80% of the product) and the coating.

People often use the FSC standard to classify the product. Then, we will have two main types of paper cups:

  • Items without FSC approval

Paper for these products may come from forests all over the world, including the Amazon. Forests that meet FSC requirements but do not get the certification can also be the sources.

  • FSC-certificated items

When a product claims to be FSC approved, it means that the entire manufacturing process takes place based on the FSC rules.

Companies that want to produce FSC items must adhere to the organization’s regulations.

The whole shipping process in Vietnam is not too complex. However, you should prepare carefully and be aware of what you have to do.

In general, the shipment involves these steps:

  • Inspection
  • Quantity and volume certification
  • Specification agreement
  • Customs clearance

Essential documents

Customs agents must get the required documents for export goods from the trading company. They will ask you to submit the following papers:

  • Declaration form
  • Bill of lading
  • Commercial invoice
  • Packing list
  • Certificate of origin
  • Export permit
  • Terminal handling receipts
  • Sales contract
  • Technical and health certificate

Process time

The export procedures are simpler, and you can finish them on the same day. On the other hand, import operations can take anywhere from one to three days. The time varies depending on the cargo size.

To cut down on customs charges, traders can request priority customs clearance.

Qualified firms that get priority service are eligible for a variety of benefits, including cheaper customs fees and faster clearance times.

Moreover, you can also have your goods approved without handing in all the required documents with the priority treatment. However, make sure that you note it within 30 days of the transportation date.

It’s essential to seek guidance from a reliable firm with extensive qualifications and expertise in Vietnamese exports and imports. Then you won’t have to deal with the arduous process.
